Support

Ejp Traditional Craftsman Fund

Many people in Japan are gradually becoming more concerned about continuing their “city-oriented life” that was based on pursuing convenience. Many are now revaluating a classical way of living, such as using time-honored goods in their daily life. However, works of craftspeople that can facilitate traditional ways of living are presently on the verge of disappearance, due to lack of successors or competitiveness in the global market, limited lines of supply, and the 3.11 disaster.

Ejp supports the recovery of Eastern Japan, by focusing on conservation, renovation of knowledge, and techniques of the local craftspeople, and by promoting culture of workmanship and the economy of Tohoku in general. Our actions are two-fold: we introduce products making good use of old things and enabling a new kind of life to a wider public, and we help craftspeople of future generations who want to learn and work in the workshops. Thus we would like to restore a culture that is considered unique to Japan.

How we support them

1.
Covering living expenses for those who wish to acquire skills from craftspeople of traditional industry in Eastern Japan

2.
Subsidizing fees for craftspeople teaching skills in their workshops
